Project: Front yard transformation
Location: Attwood
Size: 80m2
Area: Frontyard

The owners of this house needed a solution to get access to the front door and to make the small front yard usable with a series of steps using the bluestone paving. A small modwood clad block wall was constructed on the low side of the paving. A bluestone step down was also built along the edge of the turf and the new lawn was close to a level area. The area was finished with soil mulch and pebbles and the owner was keen to install plants themselves.

This was another job with an existing concrete base and the owner was very specific in how he wanted the paving to be laid. It was just a matter of following the owners plan to lay the bluestone exactly the way he wanted. 600 by 300mm bluestone was supplied by the client and the paved areas were laid on a 45º herringbone pattern with a border and the step treads were 30mm pieces with a raised edge. The owner was very fussy and was super glad he chose Paragon Landscapes to meet his standards.

With an old plan that was drawn by a landscaper architect, the owners had a rough idea of what they wanted to keep it simple with a circular paved area and brick edging with the same circumferences. Endicott crazy paving was laid on a new concrete base for the main area and bluestone paving was laid with a step around the side using 400 by 800mm pavers. Old red bricks were laid on a reinforced concrete footing with a raised brick for the garden bed side. Lights were installed, plants installed, mulch spread and Tiff Tuff instant lawn was laid

Project: Front yard transformation
Location: Newport
Size: 30m²
Area: Front yard

The old front yard was very dated and in need of some modernisation. We incorporated both old red brick on a 45-degree herringbone pattern and bluestone to use in the front path with the bluestone used for the garden edging. The old red bricks were used also to build a very neat raised garden bed with a sleeper wall protecting the fence. Finishing off 2 pathway lights, automatic irrigation, turf and plant installation.

The owner had an existing concrete base down and was set on paving it with crazy paving but was unsure of how to use the rest of the area, but he knew he didn’t want grass. We designed a plan with an extended granite topping area to the paving for a fire pit. A screen wall behind it which included brush fencing on the ends, Merbau screening and a blueboard wall in the middle rendered red with a laser cut corten steel sheet over a yellow render as the feature. Raised old red brick edging for a garden edging with a selection of native plants and mulch in the garden beds. Then a mixture of pebbled areas with sandstone steppers to the side gate.
